Several extracurricular events are available to the students of St. Rose:

  • Grades 3 - 8 are eligible to tryout for the children's choir organized by the music teacher, Mr. Mark Powls.

Spiritual Life

School Mass and Prayer

Students attend Mass at Holy Angels Catholic Church, where Father Brian Klingele is the pastor. Weekly school Mass, prayer and other special liturgical events are part of the total religion program of the school. Students remain with their classes during these times under the supervision of the teacher. We welcome and encourage parents to share in these events.

Reconciliation

Children are encouraged to receive this sacrament regularly. Students in grade 3 through 8 have many opportunities for Reconciliation throughout the year.

Liturgy

Grades Kindergarten through 8 attend Mass weekly. Students will also participate in other liturgical and devotional prayer experiences appropriate in the various sessions of the Church calendar.

Our History

St. Rose Catholic School originated from the merger of Holy Angels School in Garnett, KS and St. John the Baptist School in Greeley, KS in 2006. The school offers Catholic education to grades K - 8 in the former Holy Angels building in Garnett.

On April 11, 2006 Archbishop Joseph Naumann accepted the recommendation of parishioners, parents, and Father Brian Klingele, pastor, and named the consolidated school St. Rose Philippine Duchesne. The Presbyteral Council had just recommended to Archbishop Naumann that St. Rose Philippine Duchesne be honored as one of the secondary patrons of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. She is the only canonized saint who lived and worked in the Archdiocese. Archbishop Naumann visited the school on January 30, 2007. During this time he said Mass, blessed the new school, and christened it St. Rose Philippine Duchesne.
